Housing Development, DUBLIN 5

On a tight site with a difficult planning history a scheme of 6 3-storey houses was conceived with the upper storey built into the roof-space to respect the scale of the adjacent suburban developments. A morning-terrace on the first floor of the larger houses provides dual functions of additional and unexpected private open space and the promotion of natural light penetration into the centrally located stairwell. Finishes and materials are selected as a reference to, and development of, those used previously in the area allowing the new development settle into its context.
