THROWBACK THURSDAY

BLOOM 2017 - SILVER MEDAL WINNERS!

We've really noticed the stretch in the evenings this week and after the recent snowfall, we're looking forward to brighter, sunnier and warmer days ahead. Which reminded us of BLOOM in the Park last year.  We were grateful of some good weather during the lead up, with all the hard work that went into the build and set up.  The hard work paid off though and we were awarded a Silver Medal for our garden, 'Space to Collaborate'.

OPEN HOUSE DUBLIN 2017

It's that time of year again and we're delighted, once again, to have a recently completed project selected to feature in this year's Open House Dublin Programme.

Open House is an annual celebration of the city's best architecture presented by the Irish Architecture Foundation. The event, now in it's 12th year, is free for all to attend and allows citizens and visitors to explore buildings of all types and periods when they open their doors from October 13th - 15th. With over 150 buildings, walks, talks, exhibitions and events there's something for everyone.

The theme for 2017’s event is The City as a Stage. “The buildings of Dublin are active agents in the theatre of life”, says Nathalie Weadick, IAF Director. “Through the city’s physical form and structures, this Open House Dublin programme will reveal the character of our capital city and the active citizens, who, on this stage, play their vital parts.”

One of only two properties in Sutton to feature in this year's OHD programme, the property in question, with views over Dublin Bay, has recently been extended and renovated by Brennan | Furlong Architects & Urban Planners.

BLOOMIN MARVELOUS!

There has been great excitement in our building recently as The Chocolate Factory Creative Community have been invited to coordinate and design a show garden in Bloom in the Park this year, which runs from the 1st - 5th of June in Dublin's Phoenix Park.

BRENNAN FURLONG ARCHITECTS - Bloom in the Park 2017

BRENNAN FURLONG ARCHITECTS - Bloom in the Park 2017

The garden is aptly called, 'Space to Collaborate' and the designers Seamus Furlong (Brennan | Furlong) and Tricia Harris (Tricia Harris Designs) know only too well the value of a considered space for collaboration.

Many of the gardens other contributors are based here in the Chocolate Factory on Dublin's Kings Inn Street. It's a unique community of artists, designers and makers among many other creatives where,  the possibility of collaborations, the openness to expand beyond each other's own business and ideas are exchanged on a daily basis. From both within the building and from external areas of expertise.

Derek Devine of Devine Building Services Ltd & Landscape Gardener Eoin Gibbons, are some of those external expertise who are contributing to our Show Garden and who without, it would not be possible.

Be sure to check out our Blog AND facebook page FOR UPDATES. you could win yourself a pair of tickets for Bloom by Bord Bia 2017.

OPEN HOUSE DUBLIN 2016

Veterans of Open House know what a great weekend lies in store from October 14th - 16th.
But for those of you who may not have heard of Open House or perhaps you've just never attended, we think you should mark the date in your diary with
heavy pencil!

Open House Dublin 2016 is a weekend of over 100 tours, talks, exhibitions and events run by the Irish Architecture Foundation (IAF). You can peer inside Government buildings and public buildings, commercial buildings and museums, old stately homes and new or refurbished homes.

We're happy to announce that one of our projects at No. 5 Furry Park Road, Killester is being featured in this year's Open House Dublin programme. So, come along, on Saturday October 15th between 11am and 1pm to see our work on this 1930's home in Dublin 5.

Viewings are on a first come served basis and members of the Brennan Furlong team will be on hand to walk you through the house and talk you through
the project.

All OHD tours are free of charge and while most are first come, first served, some buildings are on a lottery basis. Check the website for more details and
for information on Open House Junior and Open House Plus.

This year, Open House Dublin is collaborating with Peter McVerry Trust to help raise awareness of World Homeless Day. It's also an opportunity to highlight
the importance of the use of space in our city, as we are faced with the deepening issue of homelessness and housing supply. Find out how you can help

HOUZZ.ie - Have you heard?

Brennan Furlong are now on Houzz.ie.

Houzz were present at this year's Ideal Homes Exhibition, to inform people of the news that they've now set up an Irish version of the popular website.

The website is a great tool if you're thinking of embarking on renovations, big or small around the home. Apart from the great photos and ideas, you can also
find products by category and even service providers.

There is also a very handy advice section, where you can post a question about your project and get some great advice from professionals (such as Brennan Furlong!) or homeowners who may have already embarked on the same journey.

So, if you're unsure where to hang a picture or even how, pop over to HOUZZ.ie and don't forget to give our page a like.
